A wall symbolizes the boundaries of a sacred space. We need to be aware of what our limitations are, not just spiritually but also emotionally. A wall has the symbolism of a dividing line a marker between the inner and the outer, privacy and open trust. A hole in a wall suggests a breach of trust or privacy. If the wall is imprisoning us we are being held prisoner by our own fears, doubts and difficulties. If the wall appears and disappears, we have only partly dealt with our problem. In dreams, walls usually indicate the limits we have set ourselves. These may be created as defence mechanisms or support structures, and it is sometimes helpful in the interpretation to decide whether the walls have been created in order to keep ourselves in, or other people out.
