A vow is a spiritual promise made between us and our universe, a pact between two people or between ourselves and God. Because a vow is normally made in front of witnesses, we need to be aware of the effect that it will have on other people. In dreams we are expecting others to help us honour our promise. To be listening to or making marriage vows indicates our commitment to totality. A vow is dedicating ourselves to a course of action and to dream of making a vow is to be recognizing responsibility for our own lives. It is more solemn than a simple promise and the results are consequently more far-reaching.
