Sound in the spiritual sense is vibration from which everything is created. In dreams, purity of sound is a prerequisite of awareness. To the waking mind, sound is necessary and is sometimes somewhat irritating. Sound can be a marker for the natural changes that occur in focus in the dream state and, therefore, becomes part of the dream scenario. A particularly sharp sound such as a desk bell pinging would suggest sudden change, whereas an apparently long, drawn-out sound such as a foghorn would signify a slower process. Literally, if what we do in waking life resonates with us that is, satisfies our inner and outer being we may become particularly aware in dreams of sound.
