A pass signifies that permission has been given to move in selected areas and, therefore, that we have reached a certain level of spiritual recognition. To lose a library pass suggests that we have not been careful to keep our knowledge up to date. To lose a bus or travel pass signifies that we have not planned our next moves carefully. To pass an examination or interview means that we have worked hard and well enough to have gained approval. As nowadays many workplaces use electronic passes to gain entry, to forget a pass might denote a lack of interest in what we are doing or that if we are honest we do not feel our work is good enough or of value. To find a pass that is not our own signifies that we feel we have a right of entry but others do not necessarily feel the same way.
