A lift is an enclosed space and can, therefore, symbolize the physical body from a spiritual perspective. Being lifted up suggests Ascension. Going up in a lift suggests aspiration and a desire for something better. Going down may indicate difficult or depressing circumstances. A lift, particularly in a work situation, may indicate the possibility of promotion or demotion, but may also indicate the way to achieve this. An old-fashioned lift might signify the need for effort or, conversely, perhaps an out-of-date attitude.
