A hook is anything that grabs us and in the spiritual sense suggests that we can become obsessive about our beliefs. At the same time to become hooked is an opportunity to make a commitment to an idea or principle even though it initially feels insecure. In childhood dreams the hook can represent the hold that a parent or authority figure has over us.
