Spiritually the staff is a symbol of the support we have, or will need, on our spiritual journey. As we progress, we move from using it as a support to using it as a tool and finally as a sign of authority. The staff in dreams symbolizes the journeying and pilgrimage that we must undertake. It also represents magical power in the form of a wand. A staff, in the sense of a stick, is a support mechanism; staff, as in office staff, a support system.
