Interpretation of dream: Fig
Fig

The fig is known to enhance psychic ability and also has a direct connection with the beginning of physical life. The Sacred fig is the Bo tree and is revered by Buddhists and Hindus alike. It was beneath this tree that Guatama Buddha received enlightenment. Jesus is said to have blasted the fig tree, when it would not provide him with nourishment. The fig tree in dreams usually suggests that we are in touch with a deeper spiritual awareness of which we have previously had no conscious knowledge. Because the 'fruit' of a fig is actually a specialized structure, an involuted (nearly closed) receptacle with many small flowers arranged on the inner surface, it has come to represent intuition and wisdom and their application in the ordinary world. This gives it an association with the Tree of Knowledge, the beginning of duality, and ultimately with masculinity and femininity. Often because of its shape, the fig is associated with sexuality, fertility, masculinity and prosperity. To dream of eating figs may well be a recognition that some kind of celebration is necessary although equally that a situation holds more potential than at first thought. Because it holds many seeds, the fig is seen as a potent fertility symbol. In a woman?s dream this image may represent her partner?s fertility and, therefore, his ability to father children. In a man?s dream it is more likely to suggest his virility. FIGHT A fight in dreams is quite literally a spiritual conflict. We need to work out where and why there is a conflict and perhaps deal with it in a subtle way. If we dream that we are in a fight, it usually indicates that we are confronting our need for independence. We may also need to express our anger and frustration and the subconscious desire to hurt a part of ourselves. We also may wish to hurt someone else, although this would be unacceptable in the waking state. To fight back is a natural defence mechanism, so when we are feeling threatened in our everyday lives, we will often dream of taking that situation one stage further and fighting it out. To throw a punch in a dream is to recognize our own distress or aggression. To be punched is often to have invited such aggression. Fighting tends to be a masculine response to a problem so in a man?s dream he may well be attempting to deal with his own reactions. In a womans dream she will be developing her own assertiveness and must decide whether her actions are appropriate. You might like to consult the entry for Conflict for further clarification.
