Technically, a charm is a spell or object possessing magic power, and was initially empowered by chanting (rhythmic singing). In dreams, it can have any of these resonances and suggests the idea of using power beyond the norm. Continuing the idea of magic, to perceive such an object in dreams alerts us to any special powers or talents we might have and our ability to use them. A charm bracelet was initially worn for protection and to attract good fortune. One of the magical techniques is to 'charm' someone - i.e. make them do something they would not normally do. In dreams we may find ourselves using such techniques as a way of alerting us to abilities and skills we have that we might not normally use. When someone else is being charming or attempting to charm us the opposite applies - we are being expected to do something which goes against the grain.
