Charity comes from the word caritas which means 'caring from the heart'. Since the heart is the seat of self awareness this caring has a very special spiritual quality about it. Charity has implications in our ability to care for and about others. Apparently altruistic acts frequently have an ulterior self-interested motive. When we dream of a charitable act it often alerts us to the wider issues that are important in our lives. To dream of giving or receiving charity has a lot to do with our ability to give and receive love. A charity box or donation in a dream usually indicates an awareness of our own needs.
